Starcraft 2 Strategy Guide

A Starcraft 2 Strategy Guide would not be complete without a thorough description of all of the Protoss hotkeys.  The best thing to do is memorize them if you can.  Managing your Protoss Army is also very important.

The Protoss starting build order is extremely important. This is a very tedious, meticulous and complicated process.  It requires specific numbers of Pylons, Gateways, Stalkers and many other things.  The exact number of each is clearly laid out in the Starcraft 2 Strategy Guide.

A good way to increase the operating speed of a building is with a Chrono boost.  This increases reaction time although it only lasts for a few seconds.

There are several different important Protoss Units and Buildings you need to be familiar with.  Some of them are High Templars, Warp Gates and Colossus.

Some other important Starcraft 2 strategies are Rushing as Protoss, Rushing with Cannons, Protoss Walling, Colossus Micro Harass and Protoss Fast Expanding.

There are also several different Zerg strategies to familiarize yourself with.  The most popular strategies are Zerg Starting Build Order, Zerg Rushing, and the Zerg Nydus Canal Trick.  These strategies are very important to your overall Starcraft 2 Strategy.

I know all of this sounds like a lot of information especially if you are new to learning Starcraft 2 Strategies.  But once you familiarize yourself with all of the terms and tactics mastering Starcraft 2 will become easy for you.  Even if you employ just a few of them you will have a distinct advantage over your competition in the long run.

Finding the best Starcraft 2 Strategy Guide is not an easy decision but this website will give you alot of help.

Major League Gaming in Raleigh, NC

I am writing this blog from Shanghai, China (上海,中国)just arriving a few days ago.  So I have taken a couple of weeks break from SC2 due to the move.  I am still in the process of building a new computer from Newegg.com.cn because I had to leave my computer behind.  That’s right, NewEgg is officially in China!!!!!

Gretorp v Silver

So while I wait for the computer components to come in, I am excited to watch the Major League Gaming SC2 tournament in Raleigh, NC.  It’s ironic but I just moved away from the area (too bad we didn’t wait a couple of weeks).  So since I can’t be there in person, I can watch it live via streaming.  Right now I am watching via the “low res” option because my internet connection is only 512Mb down (should be upgrading my China Telecom connection in a few days to 2Mb unless I can find an ISP that offers higher download speeds).  The $10 MLG charges for the High Quality is probably worth it plus it supports the very professional presentation (as described below).

Day9

Major League Gaming MLG Logo is a circuit which a few e-sports games are chosen for a given season.  This year, Halo 3, Super Smash Brothers, Tekken 6, World of Warcraft, and StarCraft 2 are the games included in the circuit.  Players specialize in only 1 game (due to multiple different games are usually played at the same time).  Players accumulate points for each tournament they play if they place in the top 16.  For the Raleigh tournament, the top 8 StarCraft players get prize money with $2000 USD for the winner all the way down to $200 for the 8th place player.  So there is decent incentive to place.  At the end of the season, the player with the most points wins (think Nascar).

This weekend, SC2 is featured in the tournament starting on Friday (August 27th) and ending on Saturday.  The event is being held LIVE down town in Raleigh (if your lucky enough to physically be there) and also online through the MLG web site.  My favorite SC2 casters are all there including HD, Husky, and Day[9] (shown in the screenshots above).  So far, I think the casters have been doing a great job staying focused on SC2 and able to fill airtime between games well.

HD & Husky

In order to watch these great casters and awesome games, MLG’s web site requires an Octoshape plugin.  The plugin is only available for Windows and Mac so it looks like us Ubuntu folks are out of the loop.  Right now, I am using the Mac version (see screenshots) because I don’t have a desktop machine yet and borrowing a friends laptop (waiting on parts to build a new kick ass Ubuntu machine — blog in the near future about it).

I have been thinking about how to install the plugin in Ubuntu, and the answer I came up with is to use IE6 or IE7 in PlayOnLinux.  PlayOnLinux makes it easy to install by having IE in its database (so either click on the Internet tab in find games or do a search for IE).  Once IE is installed, go to the MLG web site and click on the StarCraft 2 tab.  Hopefully your stream will start and you’ll be happily watching some SC2 action!

My StarCraft 2 Guide, Shokz Review

<!– @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } –>

StarCraft 2 is still a new game, yet testers and those who had access to the beta have learned most of the ins and outs and crafted the most strategies based on their extensive time with the game. From this, several StarCraft 2 guides have begun coming out from the best players of the game, but one guide has been head and shoulders ahead of the rest. This is my StarCraft 2 guide, “Shokz review”.

I’ll start this Shokz review by mentioning a bit about what to expect when you get this StarCraft 2 guide. I should mention before we go any further that it was written chiefly by John Greenhoe, a beta tester who achieved diamond status on Battle.net in the game.

His StarCraft 2 guide is broken into multiple sections, part online in a members section and part in downloadable guide format. The downloadable part covers the basic fundamentals for players who are new to this game.

The real meat is in the members section, however. It’s made up of dozens of general strategies as well as strategies which are tailored for each race and more are being added daily. One of the best things about this StarCraft 2 guide and separates it from the rest is how it doesn’t offer generalized information. It offers a variety effective strategies depending on your race of choice and who you’re playing against including strengths and weaknesses for each along with build orders.

This is a welcome breath of fresh air compared to the guides which lump everything all into one strategy. If you try one across-the-board method, it’s likely going to work in less than 50% of the games which you play in.

In addition to the guides in the member’s section, there are dozens of videos taken from real matches which showcase effective and winning strategies firsthand which I found to be a major help, as reading something is one thing but seeing it in action and having it being explained there is so much better.

In wrapping this Shokz review up, I’ll just give you some examples of a few of the dozens of individual guides just in the general section from the members section online for this StarCraft 2 guide at the time of this article.

A complete hot key guide for whichever race you choose.

Build orders for each race to get you up and running as fast as possible. Combined with the hot key guide, first time gamers can improve their level exponentially by employing these two sections.

A section on StarCraft 2 terms/lingo so that you can hold your own with the best of them when you’re in game.

A scouting guide so that you can most effectively and safely check up on your opposition’s progress in a game.

A guide on the XEL Naga cliff trick so that you can use watch towers without being susceptible to attacks.

3 Tips for Starcraft 2 Players

Hey guys I figured it would be a good post to give actual tips about how to own players in Starcraft 2 so here they are in short.

Read The Shokz Starcraft 2 Mastery Guide

1) Do not be afraid to expand. Early on it actually pays to expand especially if there is little risk. What do I mean with little risk? If you are playing on a big map and the other player or players are far away then expand early on. What I mean is build another base at a mining site close by so you quickly double the amount of cash flow for your economy. Obviously this will enable you to build a strong army.

2) Always have a strong defense before an offense. This definitely goes for a game where there are more than one opponent. Think of it like chess. Take things one step at a time and make sure your base is protected well before venturing off and attacking. Let the opponent tire themselves out before you so your attack will be more devasting.

3) Know every strategy of your race. What I love about this game is it has some complex strategies that can really mean a vistory or a loss. Certain units have certain abilities you can use to stop the opponent dead in thier tracks. Magical units have some valuable skills that really can backfire on the opponent. Remember the skill mind control dark archons had in Brood War?

Seriously you would be surprised how many players play full fledged with no patience and they will blow the game in one sweep. This is why it is called a real-time strategy game. Man I cannot wait for Starcraft 2 to come out!

Jumping Head First into Starcraft 2′s 2v2 Multiplayer

Since it was first released, the original Starcraft has taken on epic proportions around the globe, becoming a national sport in some regions and breeding endless tournaments. So, with Starcraft 2, it’s no surprise that millions of players have waited eagerly to get into the 2v2 multiplayer and work their way up the Battle.net rankings. But, before you start testing your mettle against other RTS junkies, it’s a good idea to review what you’ll be getting yourself into and how to be successful early.

Working as a Team

Most people are used to playing multiplayer games on their own. You might play on a team, but the majority of your team mates are going to run around as they please, leaving you to your own devices. With 2v2 play in Starcraft 2, you need to learn how to work closely with your team mate to generate and follow a strict strategy that will give you the upper hand against your opponent. If you’re playing random matches, this can be very hard.

So, to start with, make sure communication is possible. If you don’t have a headset, get one, or at the very least use the chat feature liberally. It’s even better if you know your teammate ahead of time so the two of you can develop strategies prior to the match starting.

Ideally, you want to build units that complement each other – allowing your team to successfully counter any attack strategies by your opponents. For example, one player can focus on economics while the other does the scouting and micro attacking. Or one could setup defenses and detectors while the other builds the attack force for early strikes.

The goal here is to spread out the work as much as possible so that when it comes time to take on your enemies you’re not left holding the short end of the stick.

Playing Effectively

There are two major things that you must do in 2v2 matches to be successful. First, you must scout and prepare for whatever your enemies are doing as early as possible. Second, you must expand whenever you can and in places that other players may not expect. The more unpredictable you can be in your expansions and your scouting methods, the less likely your opponents will be to attack you right away, and the better opportunities you’ll get to surprise them.

There are different tactics for every faction to sneak around your enemies defenses, trick them with unexpected buildings, or simply throw them off the trail of your true tactics. Use offline maps and single player to master these strategies early and use them often.

Ultimately, a good 2v2 player will be someone who can learn and adapt quickly, work with their partner and be effective in nearly every aspect of their play. If you can do that, you’ll be well on your way to Platinum status.

Recover Your Starcraft CD Key Easily and Safely

Recently i was in the mood to play a rousing game of starcraft, all of my friends were playing in anticipation of the upcoming release to the new version, starcraft II. in any even i went diggin through my closet and lo and behold i found the cd case for the game, now i purchased the game years ago and uninstalled it years ago as well. i put the disk in, ran the installer and i eventually got to the point where you register the game, upon which i thought to myself crap, i’m going to have to go ahead and purchase the game again, i can’t find the box with the number inside of it. but after a bit of searching, i came upon a neat little site called starcraft cd key central, which you can get to here, Starcraft CD Key . anyway i was dubious about the legality of it all but after looking it up and seeing it was ok to use as long as i owned the actual game, i went ahead and downloaded the key generator program which worked like a charm, now i’m back to playing starcraft with my buddies and i’m really grateful for what they helped me do. once again you can get to the site here: Starcraft CD Key . they were very helpful and accomadating, they even replied to an email i sent them. plus it was entirely spyware and adware free, just like they described. i’ll be sure to recommend them whenever i can.
