Introduction to Starcraft 2 – Games

Starcraft 2 or StarCraft 11 is the sequel to the very popular StarCraft game, which is a video game for personal computers. The original game was released by Blizzard entertainment in 1998 and in May 2007, it announced its plans to develop the sequel. The new game should be compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OS X. Although no release date has been announced, players who are wondering what this sequel will be like can play a sample demonstration of the game on the Blizzard website.

The sequel to StarCraft 1 is intended to be even better than its predecessor. It still features the three races of Terrans, Protoss and Zergs, so you won’t have to get become familiar with any new or additional races. However, it is designed to be more user friendly for multiple players. The new features include an new deign of Battle net, a ladder system for ranking the games and a capability of matching players with those of their same skill set. There will also be an improved replay function in which you can record the games you play and review them later.

You will still be able to experience cut scenes, which are pre rendered and highly cut CGI movies when playing the game, just as in StarCraft 1. You will see an improvement in this as well because the scenes will be of better quality. There will also be advanced scenery allocation and the terrain of the planet will be more detailed. Floating space platforms, with planets and asteroids in the background, will help to make the scenery more vivid and real in its appearance.

In the new game, there will be a difference in the single player aspect. Instead of the briefing room of the original game, this sequel starts with an interactive version of the battlecruiser Hyperion. The campaigns are also non-linear in which Raynor can take jobs for pay and use that money to purchase additional supplies. However, the end result will remain the same to keep a linear storyline, although the Zerg and Protoss campaigns will be different from that of the Terrans.

When this new game is released to the market, you will receive a very sophisticated game editor with your purchase. This will give you more freedom in creating custom maps and mods. Some of the same units of the original game will be present in StarCraft 11, but some have new features and capabilities added. One example is the Protoss zealot, which will have the ability to move rapidly when in combat. Some changes are also influenced by the success of Broodwar. In the video demonstration this new game, it is clear that you will be able to interact with the game environment in more complex ways. There will be units that can travel over different types of terrain or have the ability to teleport over short distances when they need to escape. Some of the Protoss units will have the ability to be deployed instantly into battle by means of a specialized structure.

Starcraft 2: Continuing a Great Legacy

Producers and game developers struggle to make the next most addictive, mind-blowing and life-changing entertainment software the gaming community has ever seen. But with many titles and genres out there, not counting the independently created software, every new game appears to have been either a minor improvement or a cheap imitation of an already existing game. Most sequels are seen as futile attempts to bring popularity to franchise long-forgotten by gaming fans and enthusiasts. But this is where Starcraft 2 stands above the rest. The sequel to what, in fact, shaped and pioneered the real-time strategy gaming scenario and mechanics in computer gaming has met with nothing but anticipation, awe and gratitude.

With Blizzard games holy three: Diablo, Warcraft and Starcraft, the latter offers the best strategy game to PC users, utilizing real-time tactics and techniques in this military-inspired video game. Of course, riding on the success of another game is one thing, but this sequel tremendously builds on the success of its predecessor while retaining the components that have both annoyed and endeared video game players around the world.

Still with three clans or factions to choose from, each with their own strengths and weakness, no one group innately more powerful than any other group, yet each group possessing characteristics specific to their race. The game is very balanced, allowing for recognition not only of the clan chosen but also of the individual units belonging to the clan. Starcraft 2 is not only a sequel, it is a trilogy. It would consist of a single game, with two expansion packs. Each campaign builds up on the story of the original Starcraft, but from different perspectives. Also, each part involves a different style of game play. One campaign involves role-playing elements, while another campaign involves mercenary tactics. Still, another segment requires the appeal of the protagonist to democracy.

The in-game cinematics have been dramatically improved to enhance the gaming experience, providing a sense of continuity and fluidity between the storyline and the game play. Portrait animations of the units have been revamped, giving a more interactive feel to the game. The usual briefing area has been redecorated to appear interactive, with a haggard-looking Raynor, a character in the previous Starcraft, now as captain of the battlecruiser Hyperion.

In fact, although the story of the game is linear, the steps taken to finish the game are not. It has been designed to be totally non-linear, giving the player the chance to explore and choose what mission to play first, with each of the missions having its own consequences and happenings.

Without even being released, loyal and new fans join each other in eager waiting for Starcraft 2.
The game was wholly designed and improved with the players in mind, keeping intact the elements that have made the game a legend in the realm of real-time strategy playing and at the same time, improving on the many aspects that drive a game to its highest potential, using technology and experience not present to the developers, artists and programmers when the game was released in 1995.

How You Can Benefit From Professional Starcraft Replays

The immense popularity of the Starcraft game has spawned professional players all over the world, but no country can outmatch South Korea in this regard. There are two game channels that regularly feature Starcraft professional competitions and it is now part of the World Cyber Games. In order to follow your favorite players when you cannot attend the matches, you can avail of professional Starcraft replays in which you see the game after it is over and a winner declared. YouTube is one of the Internet sites where you can view these replays and you can also download them to your computer from a number of sites. The Mystery Map Invitational is one of the tournaments that you can see in replays. By watching replays and looking for news of upcoming tournaments you can find out the names of players added to the roster.

If you are not sure of how to play Starcraft, you can learn a lot from watching the replays. You will see the various strategies used by the different players and you can scrutinize the results to see which ones were more effective than others. You can watch the replays over and over to determine the validity and effectiveness of the strategies and decide whether you would have made the same moves or if you would have made changes. Watching the replays is a strategy in itself for playing Starcraft because you can learn new strategies that you can use in your game. You learn the theory, but you really do have to practice to be able to put this theory and the strategies into action.

Even though it may be boring to watch replays, it is time well spent. In many ways it is similar to watching an old-fashioned Western movie. In the beginning the replay of the game is quite slow as the various units start to build up the bases and set about collecting their resources. Even with this aspect, though, you will get hints about how this process works that you can use on your own. Once the building phase is over and the players start to make their moves, you can see how the other players respond. Take note of how fast the response time is, what units are utilized and how they are used in order to repel the attack.

When you choose the replays to watch, you also have to be careful that the players are not novices at playing Starcraft. This could actually hinder your game if you adapt their strategies and find that they do not work. You should check out the skill level of the players and choose ones at a more advanced level than you to see how the game is really played. You also have to keep in mind that even the more experienced players will make a mistake, which you should be on the lookout for as you watch the replay. Then you will be able to know at what point the game changed. While many players skip watching replays, it is important in helping you become a better player.
